Las Vegas 1975

Other Strip Casinos
Statistics and pictures--a must see.  In 1975, the Strip was a low-rise premonition of its present flash.  The photos of competing properties provide a neat view of the Strip's past.

The Appraiser's Report

In their quest to get mortgage financing for the Xanadu, its builders tapped Gary H. Kent to conduct a feasibility study and write an appraisal report.  The report was a detailed description of the current (1975) Las Vegas tourist and casino market.

Given the economic vigor of the other Strip casinos, Kent concluded that the project would be a "highly feasible venture" if built and estimated its ultimate fair market value at $144 million.  The snapshot of Vegas past he left in the historic record is perhaps not that valuable, but is certainly compelling.  The text of the report, as well as charts and photographs, are available for viewing below.
