Kerzner International Limited is an international resort and gaming company that was, before

The Company is a developer and operator of destination resorts, luxury resort hotels and gaming properties worldwide. In its destination resorts segment, Kerzner owns and operates the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort and casino complex located in The Bahamas. The Company also owns a 50% equity interest in Kerzner Istithmar Limited, which is developing Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and it has entered into a joint venture agreement with two partners, and related development and long-term management agreements for the development and operation of a destination resort casino in Morocco. In the gaming segment (Gaming), Kerzner developed and earned income from the Mohegan Sun Casino located in Uncasville, Connecticut. In the One&Only resorts segment (One&Only Resorts), the Company operates 10 beach resorts at locations in The Bahamas, Mauritius, Dubai, the Maldives and Mexico.

1977: Sol Kerzner's company Southern Sun opens a casino in Mmabatho, the capital of Bophuthatswana

1979: Sun International (South Africa), a related Kerzner company, opens the Sun City resort in Bophuthatswana

1992: Sun International (South Africa) opens Lost City, a casino and resort at Sun City

1993: Kerzner divests himself of his South African assets, including Sun International (SA)

1993: Sun International Hotels established to acquire Paradise Island Resort and Casino and related operations from Resorts International, Inc. (Bahamas)

1994: Sun acquires the former Resorts International casino in the Bahamas, renaming it Atlantis on Paradise Island

1996: Sun acquired Griffin Gaming & Entertainment, Inc., chiefly consisting of Merv Griffin's Resorts in Atlantic City and related properties

1996: Trading Cove Associates ("TCA"), a partnership in which Sun owns a 50% interest, develops and begins managing the Mohegan Sun casino for the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut

1998: Major expansion completed at Atlantis Casino and Resort

1999: Completed $48 million expansion/renovation of Resorts (Atlantic City)

2000: Management agreement with Mohegan Sun terminated, though TCA still receives a share of profits and participates in development projects

2001: Sun completed the sale of Resorts Atlantic City to an affiliate of Colony Capital

2001: New casino opened at Mohegan Sun

2002: Sun International changes its name to Kerzner International Limited

2002: $1 billion Mohegan Sun expansion project completed

2002: Through Sun Online Limited (also known as "Kerzner Interactive Limited"), the company began operating an online casino in the Isle of Man

2003: Discountinued operations of Isle of Man online casino

2006: Kerzner announces its intention to be bought by a private investor group including Sol Kerzner
