Academic users' guide

This page is a guide to Center For Gaming Research online resources that are of particular help to undergraduates, graduates, and faculty.

These include media cheat sheets, links to interesting parts of the site, and a list of academic experts on gambling and related issues.

Fellowships

The Center for Gaming Research will offer research fellowships for the 2007-2008 academic year. In other words, you could get $4,000 to do research in Las Vegas.

Undergraduates

If you are an undergraduate (or smart high schooler) looking to do basic research into gambling, there are a few resources on this site for you to consider:

Want to make sure no one else is working on your topic? Want to find other people working in your area? Check out this list.

Gaming Theses/Dissertations: Published
Even if you just mine the bibliographies, these are great resources. This is list of every dissertation and thesis on gaming topcis published since 1991. It is regularly updated. Each item links to its UMI page. UNLV users can download full-text dissertations from UMI--check if your institution has similar privileges.

Reading Room
Keep up-to-date on new articles.

Virtual Museum
Some primary resources can be found here, along with interesting photos.


Faculty

Students think that their professors have all the answers (well, maybe they don't), but learning is a life-long vocation. Use these links to learn a little more about gaming, or to share your own research and wisdom.
